LITTLE BADGES - BADGE 'O' THE MONTH AUGUST

www.thebiglittlebadgeco.com

Hi

The virtual kettle's on..... So while I let it boil I just have this to say

Yes...your right. I have been bad. Very very bad. I need a good spanking (can a spanking be good). It is almost the end of September and I have not told you about August's lucky Badge 'o' the month.

Normally we have intense discussions late into the night about which badge will be upgraded to the lofty heights of badge fame. Back and fourth discussing loudly over wine, some twiglets, and finishing with intense conversation and demands while having a dram of whiskey... we normally come to a final decision.

But August was different for us.

We awoke to the news that those Hollywood muppets had remade yet another classic (and quite frankly perfect film) The Karate Kid!! We both looked at each other over our Malted wheaties and porridge...then shouted abuse at the GMTV presenters who had broken the news to us!!

Livid was not the word, I nearly choked on a sharp intake of milk!

HOW DARE THEY!! How blooming dare they. Ralph Macchio would be turning in his grave if he was dead, and as for Mr Miyagi... well he would probably no longer have the concentration to capture flies with his chopsticks.

Why (well it's all about the money and no new ideas) oh why do they keep remaking quite perfect films!! Are we that stupid that we need to keep seeing an updated film with new CGI but without the magic of the original Movie. And who...who is it that keeps going to see these films. Not me for certain, Once I make my mind up not to see a film...that's for life. (still have never seen Titanic - a rip off of the Poseidon adventure!) Why not just rerun the films in the cinema so a new generation can fall in love with the original films. Just because a film is old...does not make it a bad film.

The amount of remade films is staggering when you think about it...and these films should have a council preservation order on them so no grubby hands can get hold of them and break the magic and tarnish the image of the quite brilliant originals!

As a quick guide...The Italian Job!! (original..genius) The poseidon Adventure (Genius) 12 Angry men!!! (no.. hands off) Alfie (why oh why....and Jude law to boot!) Cape fear (another film with Deniro mumbling his way through) Planet of the Apes (genius classic)

For a full staggering list...go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_film_remakes

It makes me fear for the future. What next, remakes of Ghost, Digby the incredible growing dog, Top gun, Citizen Kane, and of course the best film ever ever made.... FOOTLOOSE.

I say no hollywood. That morning I started a twitter campaign #handsoffhollywood. And I realised I was not alone. We had over one hundred suggestions of films that should never be remade.....Mainly classics and one odd one called Spacejam (I had to look it up).

So, In honour of all great films that should be left alone, we give you August's Badge 'o' the month"Wax on Wax off", our homage to the genius that was the original film. Lets hope the remake flops, and people stop wasting their money going to see these inferior rehashes.

Nuff said (mr angry)
